The Ministry of Public Security in collaboration with the Vietnam Writers' Association held a ceremony to launch the 5th edition of the contest of writing novels, stories and memoirs on the topic "For national security and peaceful life” in the period 2022 – 2025, on the morning of December 1, in Hanoi.

The writing contest is in celebration of the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnamese People's Public Security Forces (August 19, 1945) and the 20th “All People's Protecting National Security” Festival (August 19, 2005).

The event drew the participation of Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, who is also Chairman of the Contest Steering Council, leaders of relevant agencies under the Ministry of Public Security as well as authors inside and outside the Public Security Forces.

Director of the Department on Information and Communications under the Ministry of Public Security Major General Do Trieu Phong briefed delegates on the contest, saying that authors can write about the feats of arms and achievements made by the People's Public Security Forces from the inception to the present, the image of the Vietnamese public security officer, the “All people protecting national security” movement, the Public Security Forces’ missions of safeguarding national security and maintaining order and safety, especially the fight against crime at present.

All writers inside and outside the People's Public Security Forces can participate in the contest.

The Organizing Committee will start receiving entries right after the launching ceremony and the process will be closed on April 15, 2025. 

All entries will be sent to CAND Publishing House at No. 100 Yet Kieu, Nguyen Du Ward, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi City (Email: xuanbancongan@gmail.com).

The awarding ceremony is expected to be held in August 2025, and the Organizing Committee will give 3 A prizes, 4 B prizes and 5 C prizes to each of the three categories of novel, short story and memoirs.

In addition, a number of extra prizes to outstanding entries.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To emphasized that the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security hope that authors and people nationwide inside and outside the Public Security Forces will participate in the writing contest, wishing that they would compose a lots of high-quality works about the Public Security Forces.
