Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Finance enhance coordination

The Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Finance held a conference on enhancing coordination between the two ministries in the fields of taxation, customs and financial security, on the afternoon of August 17, in Hanoi.

Politburo member and Minister of Public Security General To Lam and member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc co-chaired the conference.

Present at the meeting were also Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Finance Vo Thanh Hung, and representatives from a number of units under the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Finance.

Over the past time, the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Finance has achieved many positive results.

In particular, the two ministries have issued Joint Circular No. 85/2016/TTLT-BTC-BCA dated June 20, 2016,regulating the bilateral coordination in safeguarding national security and ensuring social order and safety the financial sector. 

Over the past five years of the bilateral collaboration, the two sides have succeeded in preventing, handling law violations and wrongdoings in the financial sector, especially in the field of tax, customs and securities. 

The bilateral coordination has also improved the two sides’ cadres’ and officials’ awareness and responsibility for safeguarding national security and maintaining public order and safety, creating a healthy competitive business environment, promoting production, and avoiding losses to the State Budget. 

The Customs and police forces have closely coordinated in detecting and handling smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal cross-border transportation of goods.

The General Department of Customs actively cooperated with units under the Ministry of Public Security, advised the National Assembly and the Government to build and complete a set of specialized legal documents in order to create a legal basis to serve the public. The cooperation of the two forces have indeed contributed to improving the efficiency of state management in the financial sector.

Minister To Lam sincerely thanked the regular and effective cooperation of the financial sector for the People's Public Security Forces over the past time, and wished to further receive support from the financial sector in ensuring security and order, and building the People's Public Security Forces in the coming time.

To enhance coordination between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Public Security in the coming time, Minister To Lam suggested the functional units of the two ministries open more training for staff of the two sides. 

The Office of the Ministry of Public Security should coordinate with relevant units of the Ministry of Finance to advise on the issuance of the coordination program between the two ministries for the period of 2022 - 2025 according to the policy approved by the leaders of the two ministries.
