Ministry of Public Security, NA Council of Ethnic Affairs sign revised coordination regulation

The Ministry of Public Security and the Council of Ethnic Affairs of the 14th National Assembly on November 21 held a ceremony in Hanoi to sign a Coordination Regulation and to award commendation plaques to individuals with great contributions to the cause of national security protection.

The event saw the presence of Ms. Tong Thi Phong, Member of Politburo, Standing Vice President of the National Assembly, General To Lam, Member of Politburo, Minister of Public Security,Mr. Do Van Chien, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister and Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Affairs; Mr. Ha Ngoc Chien, Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Council of Ethnic Affairs of the 14th National Assembly.

In the presence of Ms. Tong Thi Phong and other delegates, Minister To Lam and Mr. Ha Ngoc Chien signed the coordination regulation between the two agencies.

After 5 years implementing Coordination Regulation No. 02 dated February 11, 2015, the Ministerial Office of the Ministry of Public Security worked closely with the Bureau of Ethnic Minorities under the National Assembly Office and other functional units under the Ministry of Public Security to comprehensively revise the Regulation. As a result, the new  consists of 03 chapters and 11 articles.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister To Lam and Mr. Ha Ngoc Chien affirmed that the coordination between the two agencies contributed significantly to maintaining political stability, social order and safety of the country, particularly in remote, mountainous and border areas, home to ethnic minorities. The effective coordination between the two sides also effectively served the implementation of the Party’s and State’s policies on development of economy, culture, society, and consolidation of national defense and security in ethnic communities and mountainous areas, and improved the great national unity.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ms. Tong Thi Phong emphasized the profound political significance of the Coordination Regulation between the two agencies, practically contributing to the implementation of the NA Resolution on further realizing the Master Plan on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the period of 2021-2030. The implementation of the coordination regulation also facilitated the execution of the NA Standing Committee’s Resolution on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the implementation of the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

The NA Standing Vice President suggested the two agencies further discuss and issue legal documents guiding relevant agencies and units to implement the regulation effectively.

On this occasion, Minister To Lam presented commendation plaques to individuals with great contribution to the cause of national security protection.
