On the afternoon of August 10, at the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) in Vietnam, a delegation from the Executive Committee of the Public Security CPV Organization and the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), led by Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Public Security CPV Organization and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, paid tribute to the memory of Member of the Politburo and President of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR Xaysomphone Phomvihane.
The delegation included members of the Executive Committee of the Public Security CPV Organization, as well as leaders from various departments under the MPS and People’s Public Security Forces’ academies.
In a solemn and emotionally charged atmosphere, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung and the delegation members respectfully laid a floral wreath and observed a minute of silence in memory of Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane.
Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane was a senior leader of the Lao Party and State, and a close comrade and friend of the Party, State and people of Vietnam. His passing is an immense loss to the Party, State, National Assembly and people of Laos, as well as a profound loss to the Party, State and people of Vietnam, including the Vietnam People’s Public Security Forces.
Following the tribute, on behalf of the Executive Committee of the Public Security CPV Organization and the MPS, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung signed the condolence book, expressing deep sorrow over the passing of Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane.
In the condolence book, the Executive Committee of the Public Security CPV Organization and the MPS, emphasized that the Vietnam People's Public Security Forces always respectfully remember the precious sentiments, care and significant contributions of Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane toward fostering the cooperation between the two countries' public security forces, which has actively contributed to maintaining security, order, peace and stability in each country and the wider region.
The Executive Committee of the Public Security CPV Organization and the MPS extended their deepest condolences to the Party, State, National Assembly, Government and fraternal people of Laos, as well as to the bereaved family of Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane, bowing in respectful homage to his memory.
Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane passed away at 11:18 a.m. on August 8, at the age of 70.
To honor his great contributions and express deep grief, the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the National Assembly, the Government of the Lao PDR and the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction decided to hold a five-day State Funeral from August 9 to 13.
In mourning for Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane and reflecting the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to observe national mourning for Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane with state funeral rites for two days, from August 10 to 11.
