Ministry of Public Security, Polish Ministry of the Interior and Administration seek to promote cooperation

PSNews - As a member of a high-ranking delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visiting the Republic of Poland from January 16th to 18th, Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen had a meeting with Deputy Minister of the Interior and Administration of Poland Maciej Duszczyk, on January 17th, 2025.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Poland has been thriving across various fields, including politics, security, defense, education, training, economy, and trade, since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1950. In that context, the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam (MPS) and the Polish Ministry of the Interior and Administration has continuously been developing in a more substantive and effective manner.

However, the two countries have not yet fully tapped their potential to boost the bilateral cooperation; as a result, the two sides have not had much cooperation in the fields of countering transnational crimes involving citizens of both countries such as cybercrime, terrorism, drug-related crimes and money laundering, as well as search and rescue and disaster prevention.

In the context of the increasingly complicated developments in global political and security situations, including the crime-related issues involving the two countries, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen and Deputy Minister Maciej Duszczyk agreed on several key measures to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation between the Vietnam’s MPS and the Polish Ministry of the Interior and Administration.

Accordingly, the two sides will further promote delegation exchanges at all levels to enhance mutual understanding and boost cooperation in crime prevention and control between the two ministries, while accelerating the negotiation and signing of bilateral cooperation agreements.

Additionally, the two sides will promote the swift and effective handling of each other’s requests for crime information through cooperation channels such as INTERPOL and EUROPOL, as well as provide each other with mutual legal assistance in criminal matters and the arrest of wanted fugitives.

The two sides also agreed to enhance the sharing of information on various types of crimes of mutual concern such as cyber fraud, financial and banking fraud, tax evasion, illegal migration, human trafficking, international terrorism, environmental and natural resource offences, and food safety violations in order to coordinate efforts to combat them.

Finally, the two Deputy Ministers agreed to closely coordinate to ensure security, safety, and legitimate rights and interests of each country's citizens in the other country, while preventing individuals from one country from committing crimes in the other.
