Ministry of Public Security, State Bank of Vietnam sign coordination regulations

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) organized a ceremony to sign a coordination regulation between the two agencies in protecting security and safety for the banking sector as well as monetary and banking security, on November 26th, in Hanoi.

Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang and Member of the Party Central Committee and Governor of SBV Nguyen Thi Hong co-chaired the ceremony.

The ceremony also saw the presence of Deputy Ministers of Public Security Pham The Tung, Nguyen Ngoc Lam and Deputy Governors of SBV Doan Thai Son, Pham Tien Dung, Pham Thanh Ha and Pham Quang Dung.

The new coordination deal between MPS and SBV consists of 3 chapters and 9 articles, stipulating coordination activities between the two agencies, including exchanging information related to security and order across the banking sector as well as monetary and banking security, according to the functions, powers and responsibilities of the two agencies.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Nguyen Thi Hong sincerely thanked leaders of MPS as well as its under-ministerial units and agencies for their cooperation and support to the banking sector over the past time.

The SBV Governor affirmed that the signing of the coordination agreement is of great significance as it creates a firm basis for future coordination activities between the two agencies, contributing to ensuring security and safety of the national financial system in general and the banking sector in particular, contributing to preventing and combating economic, financial crime.

Addressing the ceremony, Minister Luong Tam Quang underlined that MPS and SBV had closely coordinated and supported each other to successfully fulfill their political tasks entrusted by the Party and State, contributing to socio-economic development and foreign affairs of the country.

To enhance the effectiveness of coordination between MPS and SBV, Minister Luong Tam Quang requested that subordinate units and agencies of the two agencies draft coordination plans in specific fields, according to their functions and tasks, and exchange information.

The Public Security Minister also suggested that the two sides should enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the fight against high-tech crime, spread good models of coordination between bank branches and grassroots-level police forces as well as realize Coordination Plan No. 01 between MPS and SBV in implementing Project 06.
