More efforts to prevent fire incidents

PSNews-The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on March 14 organized a conference on the prevention of fire and explosion incidents in the new context under the chair of Lieutenant General Bui Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security.

The conference offered an opportunity for participants to discuss causes and seek solutions to preventing or minimizing damages by fire and explosion incidents. Capabilities of fire fighting forces were also reviewed and assessed at the conference.

As reported by Major General Doan Viet Manh, Director of Fire Fighting and Rescue Department (C66) under the MPS, 2016 witnessed 3,006 fire incidents nationwide, a rise of 214 cases compared to the previous year, including 1,229 cases in public facilities and 1,290 in residential areas), killing 98 and injuring180 people. The damages were estimated to stand at approximately VND 1,240 billion.

Particularly, there has been a rise in the number of fire incidents at townhouses and houses used for both residential and business purposes.

Concluding the meeting, Lieutenant General Bui Van Thanh lauded the spirit and recent efforts by the fire police forces of cities and provinces. He also urged the forces

to continue implementing measures effectively to prevent fire incidents, facilitating the current socio-economic development.
