Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang chaired the meeting.

In his opening speech, Minister Luong Tam Quang underlined that the Public Security Central Party Committee and MPS had taken the lead in implementing the Party’s policy on streamlining the organizational apparatus for higher operational efficiency and effectiveness by continuously streamlining the Public Security Forces' organization, over the past years.

By now, MPS has drafted a project to further restructure and streamline the organizational apparatus of the local-level police forces, enhancing their operational effectiveness and efficiency to meet the task requirements in the new situation.

The draft project has recently been approved by the 13th Party Central Committee, and MPS has completed the preparation for the deployment of the new organizational apparatus of the entire Public Security Forces.

At the meeting, MPS leaders noted key and core tasks of restructuring the organization, functions, tasks and powers of all public security units and agencies under the new organizational structure.

According to reports, the Public Security Forces will have several additional responsibilities, and there will be no longer the district-level police agency in the new apparatus of MPS.

Concluding the meeting, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and MPS, Minister Luong Tam Quang praised all public security units and agencies at all levels for their high sense of responsibility and efforts in implementing the policy of streamlining the organizational apparatus.

The Minister also commended leaders of police units and agencies for taking the exemplary and leading role in realizing the Party’s policy on streamlining the organizational apparatus to ensure high operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Regarding key tasks that need to be implemented immediately, Minister Luong Tam Quang requested that leaders of public security units and agencies, especially those being directly in the streamlining process, should organize meetings to disseminate the policy to all officers and enlistees, as well as draft specific plans to effectively implement the restructuring.

The Minister noted that the functions and tasks of the Public Security Forces will be expanded in the coming time, so local-level police units should properly reallocate personnel to ensure adequate human resources for all tasks, especially their new assignments.

Minister Luong Tam Quang believed that, under the new organizational structure, the Public Security Forces will continue to develop, as well as strengthen their credibility and position, and be worthy of the trust of the Party, the State and the people, contributing to the celebration of the 80th founding anniversary of the heroic Vietnamese Public Security Forces.
