MPS builds more than 1,000 houses for poor people in Dien Bien

The project to build new homes or repair shanty ones for poor households in Dien Bien province funded by the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has been completed after two months of implementation.

Over the past two months, more than 1,000 homes in Dien Bien Dong, Dien Bien province have been either built or repaired for local poor families.

Le Thanh Do, Chairman of the Dien Bien Provincial People’s Committee, revealed, the COVID-19 pandemic caused a lot of difficulties to the construction while the mountainous terrain makes the transportation of building materials even more difficult as local families live in remote mountainous areas of which  have no water or power.

Thanks to the joint efforts of the Provincial Police Department, Military Command, Northwest Mobile Police Regiment and People's Committee of Dien Bien Dong district and donation from banks and companies, after 53 days, 988 new houses have been built while 52 other have been repaired.

Dien Bien Dong is the third district in Dien Bien benefiting from a project  that the MPS had raised funds among officers and soldiers and called on organizations, businesses and people as well as public security officers to fund for the building of homes for poor people. Earlier, 1,200 households in Muong Nhe districts and 600 ones in Nam Po were handed new houses thanks to similar projects.
