MPS celebrates VPA’s founding anniversary

PSNews – Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on December 12 held a ceremony in Hanoi, to celebrate the 73rd founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), the 28th All People’s Defense Festive Day and the successful coordination in APEC 2017 protection among agencies and armed forces.

At the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security took this chance to thank Minister of National Defense, General Ngo Xuan Lich; leaders of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) and the Office of the Central Party Committee as well as the National Assembly's National Defense and Security Committee for coordinating and supporting the Public Security Forces over the past.

Minister To Lam said that the Public Security Forces have promoted their core role in advising the Party and the State on solving many major and strategic issues; promptly dealing with emerging issues relating to security and order; and effectively defeating plots of hostile forces.

The crime prevention has been conducted in a resolute manner, helping curb crimes and make positive changes in social order and safety. The State management of security and order work as well as the movement "All people protecting national security" have also been upheld. 

In particular, in 2017, the MPS synchronously deployed its forces and assets to ensure the absolute safety and security of APEC's events, contributing to maintaining the sovereignty, territorial integrity and enhancing the country's position.

Minister To Lam hoped that the Public Security forces will further receive the care and support of the MND, the Office of the Central Party Committee as well as the National Assembly's National Defense and Security Committee in ensuring order, security and force building in the coming time.

For his part, on behalf of the Central Military Commission (MND), General Ngo Xuan Lich thanked the Central Party Committee of Public Security and leaders of MPS for their deep understanding and sincere sentiment for officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army. He also congratulated the Public Security forces on its outstanding achievements in 2017.

General Lich affirmed that the Vietnam People’s Army and the Public Security Forces are the core forces in protecting national security. Therefore, the two forces should further promote unity and consensus in implementing the common political tasks.

On this occasion, General Lich presented the medals “For the Cause of Building the Vietnam People's Army” to 6 leaders of the MPS.
