The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a congress of its Lawyers Association chapter for the 2024–2029 term, on the afternoon of November 15th, in Hanoi.

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a congress of its Lawyers Association chapter for the 2024–2029 term, on the afternoon of November 15th, in Hanoi. Under the authority of MPS leaders, Director of the Department of Legal Affairs and Administrative-Judicial Reforms Major General Pham Cong Nguyen, Head of MPS Lawyers Association chapter, chaired the congress.

Delivering his opening speech, Major General Pham Cong Nguyen underlined that the Public Security Lawyers Association Chapter Congress for the 2024-2029 term is of great significance as it aims to objectively and comprehensively evaluate the work results of the Public Security Lawyers Association Chapter over the past time, point out remaining shortcomings and limitations, draw lessons from the previous term, set out orientations, goals and key tasks for the coming term and propose approaches to successfully achieve the set targets, contributing to strongly developing the Public Security Lawyers Association chapter in particular and building truly clean, strong, regular, elite and modern Public Security Forces in general.

During the previous term, the chapter maintained close coordination with the Department of Legal Affairs and Administrative-Judicial Reforms, police departments of provinces and centrally-run cities and involved ministries, branches and sectors to develop and comment on a number of important draft laws and legal documents in security and order.

Speaking at the congress, Vice-Chairman of the Vietnam Lawyers Association Tran Duc Long highly valued the achievements of the Public Security Lawyers Association chapter in the previous term, while acknowledging the contributions made by the chapter to the Vietnam Lawyers Association.

The Vice-Chairman of the Vietnam Lawyers Association requested that in the next term, the Public Security Lawyers Association chapter continue to renovate and enhance the effectiveness of professional work, while strengthening cooperation with the Vietnam Lawyers Association, especially in implementing the coordination program between MPS and the Vietnam Lawyers Association, so as to successfully fulfill all its assigned tasks.

At the Congress, delegates elected 19 candidates to the Executive Committee of the MPS Lawyers Association chapter for the 2024-2029 term, who will lead the chapter to successfully implement the Resolution and the Action Program of the Congress, so as to excellently complete all tasks entrusted by the Party and State.
