MPS delegation attends ASEANAPOL 42

The 42nd ASEANAPOL Conference themed "Strengthening regional and global partnership to combat transnational crimes” officially opened on the morning of October 22nd, 2024.

A delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam (MPS) led by Chief of the Office and Permanent Deputy Head of the Criminal Investigation Police Agency of MPS Major General Tran Minh Tien attended the 42nd ASEANAPOL Conference (ASEANAPOL 42) in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar from October 21st to October 25th, 2024.

The conference was attended by nearly 200 delegates from the 10 ASEANAPOL member states, dialogue partners, international observers and the ASEANAPOL Secretariat.

The 42nd ASEANAPOL Conference themed "Strengthening regional and global partnership to combat transnational crimes” officially opened on the morning of October 22nd, 2024.

During the conference, delegates frankly and openly discussed the achievements in the cooperation among ASEANAPOL member states as well as between ASEANAPOL member states and dialogue partners and observers in preventing and combating transnational crimes. They pointed out remaining difficulties and obstacles, and proposed feasible approaches to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation in the coming time.

At the conference, delegates agreed on various contents and strategies to develop an increasingly safer ASEAN region. At the end of the conference, heads of the 10 ASEAN member states' police delegations adopted a joint statement of ASEANAPOL 42, affirming the ASEANAPOL's focuses of cooperation in 2025.

On the sidelines of the conference, Major General Tran Minh Tien had a bilateral meeting with President of INTERPOL Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi, aiming to strengthen cooperation between MPS and INTERPOL as well as call on INTERPOL to support Vietnam in crime prevention and control.

Major General Tran Minh Tien wished that INTERPOL advocates the candidacy of a representative of Vietnam’s MPS for the INTERPOL Executive Committee at the upcoming 92nd General Assembly of INTERPOL to be held in Scotland from November 4th to November 7th, 2024.

Speaking at the meeting, the President of INTERPOL highly appreciated the effort and goodwill of the Vietnamese police force in participating in INTERPOL joint activities as well as its candidacy for the INTERPOL Executive Committee for the first time.

The President of INTERPOL wished that Vietnam continues to cooperate with INTERPOL as well as its members to effectively prevent and combat all types of transnational crime for the common goal of a safe and secure world.
