MPS enhances ties with Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs

PSNews - Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security on October 17 received Mr. Amrin Amin, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Health of Singapore, visiting and attending the 6th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Drug Matters in Vietnam.

Speaking at the reception, Minister To Lam thanked the Ministry of Home Affairs of Singapore for their effective coordination with the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) in various areas; particularly the two sides coordinated closely in identifying, hunting and transferring wanted criminals as well as effectively investing and handling serious crimes of economic fraud and human trafficking.

As the Agreement on Prevention and Combat of Transnational Crime between the two countries is due to expire by the end of this year, Minister To Lam suggested both sides should soon extend the Agreement to create a legal foundation for cooperation in the time to come.

Minister Lam also revealed that Vietnam suggests defining illegal trade of stolen antiques as a new content within the ASEAN cooperation framework in crime prevention and combat.

Vietnam wishes to receive more supports and sharing of experience from Singapore, Minister Lam said.

For his part, Mr. Amrim Amin suggested both ministries maintain and develop their cooperation in all areas in the time to come, on the basis of the current fine relations between the two sides.

He also promised to do his best to promote the fine relations and coordination between the two sides, contributing to consolidating the political trust and deepening the strategic partnership between the two nations.
