MPS holds conference on Cyber Security Law

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) hold a conference on July 23 on the Law on Cyber Security. Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, chaired the conference.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam emphasized that the cyber space has brought enormous benefits to society and changed the thinking and behaviors of people. However, it has also posed various threats and challenges to national sovereignty, national security, social order and safety, as well as to legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals. He also stressed the importance of firmly protecting national rights, interests and security and successfully addressing newly emerging threats from the cyber space.

The Law on Cyber Security includes 7 Chapters with 43 Articles, stipulating the basic contents on the protection of national security, social order and safety, as well as of legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals. Deputy Minister Nam stressed that the State of Vietnam consistently pursues a policy to build a healthy cyberspace that does no harm to national security, social order and safety, as well as to legitimate rights and interests of agencies, groups and individuals; to encourage and create conditions for organizations and individuals to participate in protecting security and handling threats to cyber security; and to expand international cooperation in this area.

Delegates at the conference were briefed by leaders of the Department of Cyber Security under the MPS on the building process, basic contents and implementation of the Law on Cyber Security as well as responsibilities of agencies, organizations and individuals in implementing the law.

The delegates also watched a documentary on cyber threats and participated in a seminar to discuss contents of the law.
