MPS inspects fire prevention and safety at Ministry of Construction

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security held a meeting to announce the results of a fire inspection conducted by its delegation at the Ministry of Construction on the afternoon of May 27 in Hanoi.

Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen and Deputy Minister of Construction Bui Xuan Dung co-chaired the meeting.

According to reports at the meeting, in recent years, the Ministry of Construction has developed and compiled a manual on fire prevention and safety for buildings and construction works, as well as drafted the High-rise Buildings – Fire Safety Design Guidelines – a set of fire safety standards.

The Ministry has also reviewed and issued a comprehensive set of national codes and standards on fire prevention and safety in line with the country’s socio-economic development.

In his concluding remarks, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen urged the Ministry of Construction to intensify its leadership and promptly implement all the Central Government’s directions and guidelines on fire and rescue work.

He also requested the Ministry to early complete the 10-year review report on the implementation of Directive No. 47 issued by the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on June 25, 2015, regarding the strengthening of the Party’s leadership over fire and rescue work with the aim of comprehensively assessing the current situation and outcomes of tasks undertaken by the Ministry and the construction sector.

The Deputy Minister of Public Security also suggested that the Ministry of Construction attach specific responsibilities to subordinate units and officers in charge for the implementation of the Law on Fire Prevention and Rescue, while proactively reviewing and completing guiding documents on the law’s execution across the sector.

Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen also proposed that the Ministry direct provincial-level Departments of Construction to closely coordinate with the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Divisions of provincial police departments to provide guidance, conduct inspections and promptly remove obstacles in fire and rescue work.

The Deputy Minister of Public Security also called for strengthening the development of specialized advisory divisions on fire prevention and rescue, while urging the Ministry to swiftly draft a plan to address the shortcomings pointed out by the inspection delegation.
