Deputy Minister of Public Security Major General Nguyen Ngoc Lam hosted a meeting with Director of the Equipment and Technology Bureau under the Korea Coast Guard (KCG) Baek Hak-seon, on the afternoon of July 29th, in Hanoi.
Welcoming Mr. Baek Hak-seon to the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Lam highlighted that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) has been blossoming with numerous positive results, saying that Vietnam always considers RoK an important long-term partner and one of the top priority partners in Vietnam's international relations.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Lam also said that the Minister of Public Security of Vietnam and the Commissioner of KCG signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between Vietnam’s MPS and KCG in 2023, which is an important milestone in the bilateral ties, showing long-term commitments between the two agencies in areas of mutual interest.
The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the Korean Coast Guard for providing the Vietnamese police force with patrol boats, canoes and jet skis, as well as offering training courses to Vietnamese waterway police officers.
To further promote the bilateral cooperation between Vietnam’s MPS and KCG, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Lam suggested that the two agencies should effectively implement the signed Memorandum of Cooperation, enhance delegation exchange at all levels to share work experience and professional expertise between the Korea Coast Guard force and the Vietnamese waterway police force, with the aim of bringing the bilateral ties to a higher level, commensurate with cooperation potential between the two sides.
On behalf of KCG, Mr. Baek Hak-seon affirmed that KCG will continue to promote cooperation with Vietnam’s MPS in the coming time, and wished the cooperation between Vietnam’s MPS and KCG in particular and RoK’s law enforcement agencies in general would be further strengthened and developed.
