MPS launches crime suppression campaign for Lunar New Year 2025

The Ministry of Public Security has launched a nationwide campaign to attack and suppress crime in order to maintain security and order, social stability and ensure security and absolute safety for the Lunar New Year 2025 and major national events.

The campaign also aims at creating a premise for security and safety for the Party Congresses at all local levels in the buildup to the 14th National Party Congress.

Accordingly, from December 15, 2024, to February 14, 2025, all public security units and agencies will simultaneously launch operations to resolutely attack and suppress all types of crime to ensure security and safety during the Lunar New Year 2025, as well as to protect activities celebrating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and major events, especially Christmas and New Year's 2025.

The Ministry of Public Security requested that all public security units and agencies nationwide should proactively grasp the situation and take preventive measures and combat crime to maintain security and order, and avoid unexpected strategic surprises.


Public security units and agencies are also supposed to proactively advise local Party committees and authorities to direct relevant local bodies, branches and mass organizations to actively participate in crime prevention and control; in other words, they should promote the synergy of the entire political system in attacking and suppressing crime and ensuring security and order while effectively promoting legal dissemination among people to raise their vigilance against crime and proactively prevent crime and law violations.

The public security units and agencies should also deploy synchronous measures, plans, and strategies to effectively prevent and combat crime with the use of high technology and in cyberspace, such as cyber fraud, online gambling, and online sex trade, preventing criminal acts from becoming complicated, crimes causing public anxiety.

The public security units and agencies are requested to detect and strongly suppress organized crime, crime related to “black credit”, crime involving the use of weapons and explosives, robbery, theft, and other types of crime that usually occur during the Lunar New Year, while controlling street crime, youth gangs causing public disorder and intentional injury in urban areas and major cities.
