MPS launches “For a Green Vietnam” Tree-Planting Festival 2026

Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang chaired the launching ceremony of the 2026 Tree-Planting Festival – “For a Green Vietnam” of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS). on the morning of February 26 in Hung Yen province.

Addressing the ceremony, Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that, since the Lunar New Year 1960 — the first Tet when the Vietnamese people responded to President Ho Chi Minh’s call — the Tree-Planting Festival has become a widespread mass movement and a beautiful cultural tradition of Vietnam.

The Minister noted that during the 2021–2025 period, the entire Public Security Forces planted more than 12 million trees, including over 3 million trees in 2025 alone.

He stressed that, in 2026, the MPS will continue to take the lead in planting trees, mobilizing all officers and enlistees to plant trees with a goal of at least 4 million trees, contributing to reforestation, environmental improvement, socio-economic development, disaster mitigation, greenhouse gas emission reduction and effective response to climate change.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the MPS leadership, Minister Luong Tam Quang officially launched the 2026 Tree-Planting Festival with the slogan “For a Green Vietnam,” which will then be carried out throughout the Public Security Forces.

He called on public security units and agencies nationwide to strongly disseminate the spirit of the 2026 Tree-Planting Festival, enhance forest fire prevention and control efforts and promptly commend and reward exemplary collectives and individuals for their effective initiatives and innovative models in implementing the movement.

On the same day, Minister Luong Tam Quang and leaders of Hung Yen province also attended the Tree-Planting Festival launching ceremony held by the Department of External Security, and planted trees at the Police Peacekeeping Training and Capacity Development Center in Hoang Hoa Tham Commune, Hung Yen province.
