MPS leader meets with head of Federal Security Service of Russian Federation

Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, leading a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam (MPS), had a meeting with Director of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) Alexander Vasilyevich Bortnikov, on September 13th, in Moscow.

The meeting was in the framework of the Vietnamese Minister of Public Security’s visit to the Russian Federation from September 10th to September 13th at the invitation of Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation General Sergei Shoigu.

At the meeting, FSB’s Director Alexander Vasilyevich Bortnikov highly appreciated the visit to Russia of Minister Luong Tam Quang and the delegation of MPS to attend the Meeting of BRICS High Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters/National Security Advisors, saying that the visit contributed to deepening the Russia – Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership in general and cooperation between the Russian security and law enforcement agencies and MPS in particular.

The FSB’s Director also extended his deepest condolences to the Vietnamese authority and people over the calamities caused by Super Typhoon Yagi.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang thanked the leader of FSB for warly welcoming the MPS delegation as well as extending condolences to the Vietnamese over huge human and material losses caused by natural disasters.

The Vietnamese official reaffirmed that Vietnam always values the support of the Russian people for Vietnam in the fight for national independence and reunification as well as in the cause of building and developing the country today.

The Vietnamese Public Security Minister underlined that the year of 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Principles of Friendly Relations between the Russian Federation and Vietnam, demonstrating a high level of the political trust between top leaders of the two countries as well as close coordination and regular mutual support in the international arena, contributing to ensuring national security and protecting the interests of each country.

Minister Luong Tam Quang also thanked the Russian Federation for supporting Vietnam’s candidacy for the United Nations’ Human Rights Council for the 2023 – 2025 term.

At the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang also affirmed that Vietnam always supports and wishes the Russian Federation to play an active and constructive role in the Asia – Pacific region and participate in ASEAN-lead cooperation mechanisms as well as other regional mechanisms such as APEC and ASEAN.
