MPS leaders meet reputable persons of ethnic minorities in Soc Trang

PSNews – Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Member of the Politburo, and Minister of Public Security on August 17 met with a visiting delegation of reputable persons of ethnic minority communities of Soc Trang province.

The delegation, including 52 reputable persons, was led by Lam Van Man, Vice Secretary of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee.

On behalf of the delegation, Man congratulated the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on the 73rd Traditional Day of the Public Security Forces and briefed MPS leaders on the implementation of policies for reputable persons in Soc Trang. He added that Soc Trang is now home to 600 reputable persons of ethnic minorities.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam expressed his delight at receiving the delegation of reputable persons of ethnic minorities from Soc Trang.

He emphasized that Vietnam is a united nation of various ethnic groups, staying side by side in national building and defense. Ethnic minority groups play an important role in politics, economy as well as security, national defense and environmental protection. The Party and the State always attach great importance to ethnic affairs, and implement various policies and projects for localities of ethnic minorities with the aim of eliminating hunger and reducing poverty for ethnic minorities.

The Minister of Public Security also emphasized that the ethnic minority groups of Soc Trang had made great contributions to the national struggles against French and American invaders, as well as the today’s national development and defense. 

Regarding their opinions, the minister promised to direct police units in the Southwestern provinces to take more effective approaches to curb criminal activities, and ensure local security and order to facilitate local socio-economic development.

Minister Lam also hoped the reputable persons of the Soc Trang ethnic minority groups to mobilize local people to follow policies of the Party, the laws of the State, and contribute more to the national security protection movement.
