MPS leaders see off police officers deployed to UN peacekeeping mission

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a meeting, on October 13, in Hanoi, to see off the police officers who are about to go to the United Nations peacekeeping mission in South Sudan. Head of the Steering Committee for the project on Vietnamese police’s participation in UN peacekeeping operations and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang chaired the event.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang shared that this is a very new task that the Vietnam People's Public Security Forces under take so the first police officers to go on the mission must see it as their honor and pride while they can contribute to the maintenance of international peace and security.

Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang requested that the deployed police officers should quickly settle down and get to the new working environment, coordinate closely with international colleagues and partners, and successfully fulfill their tasks assigned by the commander of the local peacekeeping force.

At the same time, they should coordinate closely with the officers of the Vietnam People's Army working at the UN peacekeeping mission, overcome all difficulties, and show strong determination to accomplish their assigned tasks, contributing to heightening the status of the People's Public Security Forces in the international arena.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang sent congratulations to the families of the deployed police officers and wished them to be the spiritual support for the comrades while they work far from home for the sake of international peace and security.

Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang also hoped that, in the coming time, more police officers will be selected to work at UN agencies and peacekeeping missions.

*On the same day, following the direction of the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, the Party Committee of the Department of External Security held a ceremony to announce and hand over a decision to establish a temporary Party cell of the police squad to work at the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan.

Accordingly, the Party cell called 12 includes three Party members: Senior Colonel Le Quoc Huy as Secretary of the Party cell, Lieutenant Colonel Vu Viet Hung and Lieutenant Colonel Luong Thi Tra Vinh.
