“The Ministry of Public Security’s leadership has been reported that, over the past period, the Ha Tinh Provincial Police have taken drastic professional measures to stamp out a criminal network that organized online gambling activities, committed fraud, illegally appropriate assets in cyberspace, and conduct money laundering on a large scale. The local police have so far arrested and prosecuted eight suspects, seized 40 computers, 23 mobile phones, 10,000 SIM cards along with numerous documents and exhibits, as pieces of evidence, related to the case.
The investigation results revealed that the suspects had built and operated the naptien.biz system with more than 1,000 agents to legitimize money obtained from illegal online gambling activities with a total transaction exceeding VND 2.2 trillion.
The outstanding achievement has demonstrated a high sense of responsibility, great effort and creativity of the Ha Tinh Provincial Police while implementing the directives of the Central Public Security Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security regarding the fight against organized and high-tech crime.
The success has also proved the growing professionalism and operational capability of the Ha Tinh Provincial Police in preventing and combating crime, while it has significantly contributed to crime deterrence and prevention, strengthening the public trust in the People’s Public Security Forces.
Finally, that achievement of the local police has also contributed to marking the 80th founding anniversary of the People’s Security Force.”
On behalf of the Central Public Security Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security’s leadership, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung acknowledged and praised the units participating in the clearance of the case.
He requested Ha Tinh Provincial Police Department to expand the investigation, consolidate evidence and documents so as to strictly handle all related suspects in accordance with the laws.
