MPS mobilizes maximum forces and means to safeguard celebrations of 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a meeting to review the task performance of the Public Security Forces in April and roll out its May work plan, on April 28, in Hanoi.

Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang chaired the meeting.

The meeting was held online, connecting delegates from the MPS headquarters with those from the police departments of provinces and centrally-run cities nationwide.

According to reports presented at the meeting, the Public Security Forces continued to firmly safeguard national security, maintain social order and safety and ensure absolute security and safety for business trips of Party and State leaders as well as major national and international events in the country, in April.

Notably, the Public Security Forces ensured absolute security and safety for the P4G Summit and the visit to Vietnam by Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.

In addition, the forces drew up and deployed secure plans to safeguard the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30) and International Workers' Day (May 1).

During the discussion session under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister Dang Hong Duc, delegates discussed a number of security and order-related issues, including the work of ensuring security and safety acros the country during the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the fight against violations of food safety regulations, and ensuring traffic safety during the April 30 – May 1 holidays.

Concluding the meeting, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of MPS, Minister Luong Tam Quang acknowledged and commended the entire Public Security Forces for their achievements  in April.

Regarding key tasks in the coming period, Minister Luong Tam Quang requested that public security units and agencies nationwide mobilize maximum forces and resources to fully implement all approved security plans, with the aim of ensuring absolute security and safety for celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, and must not make any mistakes even the minor one.

Regarding crime prevention and control, the Minister urged local police departments, the communal-level police stations, to create big changes in the management of local latent criminals high-risk subjects, emphasizing that it is a fundamental approach to prevent crime and cut down the crime rate.

Additionally, Minister Luong Tam Quang requested the criminal police force to proactively prevent and combat seasonal crimes, particularly those taking advantage of tourist destinations and entertainment venues to commit crime, and suppress organized criminal groups and high-tech criminal networks.

Finally, the Minister asked the traffic police force to enhance patrols to prevent serious congestion during the April 30 holidays in the country, particularly at event venues, bus stations, railway stations and airports.
