The ceremony saw the presence of leaders from the MPS Standing Office for UN Peacekeeping Operations and the People’s Security Academy, representatives of the Police Attaché Office of the French Embassy and 18 peacekeeping police officers of MPS.

The training course, scheduled from November 18th to November 29th, will be instructed by two senior officers from the French National Gendarmerie.

During the training course, attendants will study the overview of armed conflicts, rules of engagement, the International Criminal Court and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

In addition, participants will practice building physical strength, seeking safe locations, and detecting home-made mines and explosives as well as escaping from high-risk terrains, controlling crowds, giving first aid to the injured and checking vehicles.

Expressing her delight at attending the opening ceremony, French Police Attaché Nathalie Carlier underlined that the training course is within the framework of the bilateral cooperation program on homeland security between the two countries in general and the two police forces in particular, which creates a valuable opportunity for both sides to exchange peacekeeping knowledge and skills.

The French Police Attaché believed that the theories and practices during the training course will create a firm basis for the Vietnamese peacekeeping police officers before being deployed to UN peacekeeping missions.

She hoped that they will also apply their acquired knowledge to their practical work in Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Chief of the MPS Standing Office for UN Peacekeeping Operations Senior Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Tho revealed that, since 2022, MPS has deployed 4 working groups with 12 police officers, including 4 policewomen, to peacekeeping operations as well as sent a police officer to the UN Police Division.

Senior Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Tho believed that the training course will be a success, thanks to the good cooperation and relations between Vietnam and France and other partners, the careful preparation of the training course by co-hosts as well as enormous effort of the trainers and trainees.
