MPS promotes cooperation with Japan’s National Police Agency

Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung hosted a meeting with outgoing Representative of the National Police Agency of Japan in Vietnam Kobayashi Kunikazu in Hanoi.

Congratulating Mr. Kobayashi Kunikazu on his successful term of office in Vietnam, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung underlined that Vietnam and Japan have a traditional friendship, and the bilateral cooperation between the two countries has been blossoming in all fields, especially after the upgrading of bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2023.

On that basis, the cooperation between Vietnam’s MPS and the Japan’s National Police Agency has witnessed a number of positive achievements.

The host highlighted that, in 2024, police leaders of the two countries signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the National Police Agency of Japan on countering transnational crimes and building capacity of the law enforcement forces of the two countries, as well as successfully organized the 8th Vietnam – Japan Deputy-Ministerial Security Dialogue in Japan.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung affirmed that Vietnam’s MPS highly appreciated Mr. Kobayashi Kunikazu’s contributions to promoting the relationship between Vietnam’s MPS and the Japan’s National Police Agency in many fields.

Accordingly, the two sides have regularly exchanged experience in forensic science and professional technique, while promoting delegation exchange and cooperation in personnel training.

The two sides also maintained the Vietnam – Japan Deputy-Ministerial Security Dialogue on the annual basis, as well as closely cooperated in implementing aid projects of the Japanese Government for Vietnam’s MPS in the fields of fire and rescue, traffic safety and counter-terrorism.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung presented Mr. Kobayashi Kunikazu a medal of "National Security Protection", saying that Vietnam’s MPS rewarded him such a noble medal in recognition of his large contribution to the bilateral cooperation between the two police agencies.

Expressing his honor to receive the MPS's commemorative medal, Mr. Kobayashi Kunikazu sincerely thanked Vietnam’s MPS for its great support during his tenure in Vietnam, pledging that he will do his best to strengthen relations between the two countries, and expand cooperation between the National Police Agency of Japan and Vietnam’s MPS albeit doing any jobs in the future.
