MPS promotes reading movement in Public Security Forces

In response to the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a ceremony to launch the 2026 reading movement in the Public Security Forces under the theme: “Following Uncle Ho’s teachings – Innovating mindsets – Enriching knowledge – Building a regular and modern force – Devoted to the Party, for the people,” on the morning of April 16 in Hanoi.

Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung chaired the event.

The ceremony was attended by Party Central Committee Secretary and Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; former Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, President of the Vietnam Association for Learning Promotion, along with representatives from ministries and Central-level agencies.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung emphasized that the Public Security Central Party Committee and MPS leadership have attached much importance to building a reading culture in the Public Security Forces.

Public security units and agencies have been directed to build and upgrade their libraries, reading rooms and book collections, as well as deployed various models such as “Ho Chi Minh Bookcase,” “Legal Bookcase” and “E-bookcase.”

In addition, the Ministry has strengthened coordination with ministries, sectors, localities, publishing houses and the Vietnam Association for Learning Promotion to promote reading and learning movements across the Public Security Forces, gradually contributing to building a learning society within the forces.

To make the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day a regular and substantive activity, the Deputy Minister requested Party committees and leaders of public security units and agencies to pay more attention to reading movements, contributing to fostering their officers and enlistees’ ideology, ethics, good lifestyle and professional capacity.

He also stressed the need to combine the building of reading culture with the building of regular, elite and modern Public Security Forces as well as with the  digital transformation strategy.

Units were urged to invest in upgrading libraries, developing digital libraries and reading spaces, and build a connected digital knowledge ecosystem, while promoting models such as “digital libraries,” “smart bookshelves” and open, user-friendly reading environments.

The Deputy Minister requested that each officer or enlistee should be aware of the importance of cultivating lifelong reading habits and consider reading an essential daily activity to foster their knowledge, strengthen their resilience, perfect their personality and improve professional competence.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, delegates visited an exhibition on books and library technologies under the theme “Spreading reading culture – Connecting knowledge – Developing a learning society.”
