MPS reviews detention management and community-based criminal judgment execution in first half

PSNews - Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, Head of the Criminal Judgment Execution Authority of the Ministry of Public Security, chaired a meeting to review detention management and community-based criminal judgment execution by the Public Security Forces in the first six months of 2025, on the morning of July 18 in Hanoi.

In the first half of the year, police units responsible for managing detention facilities, compulsory educational institutions, reformatories and community-based criminal judgment execution nationwide achieved numerous positive work results.

Accordingly, the in-charge police units basically ensured security and safety of detention facilities as well as inmates, while carrying out policies for inmates in accordance with legal regulations. Additionally, they effectively provided judicial support, ensured courtroom security and managed evidence warehouses across the country.

They also actively advised the Party and the State to direct the relevant agencies and units to effectively execute the April 30 amnesty drive, and are now actively working on the September 2 amnesty drive.

At the meeting, delegates assessed the current situation of detention management and criminal judgment execution by the Public Security Forces, and proposed various approaches to improve the quality and efficiency of the work in the second half of 2025.

They also discussed issues related to the implementation of the upcoming September 2 amnesty drive.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security’s leadership, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen acknowledged the achievements of the police forces responsible for detention management and community-based criminal judgment execution during the first half of 2025.

Regarding key tasks for the second half of the year, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen requested the in-charge police units and agencies to continue strictly adhering to legal provisions and relevant ministerial directives on detention and inmate correction and education.

He also stressed the importance of thoroughly reviewing, assessing and appraising the profiles of inmates eligible for the September 2 amnesty or conditional early release, ensuring strict compliance with legal procedures to avoid any errors.

Furthermore, he requested that the police forces actively advise local Party committees and governments on effectively managing and educating persons under community-based criminal judgment execution, while strengthening cooperation with local authorities to ensure absolute security and safety at detention facilities.
