The Central Party Committee of Public Security, Ministry of Public Security (MPS) organized a conference on June 25 to review the task performances of the Public Security Forces in the first 6 months of 2020 and roll out new plans for the remaining months.

Politburo Member, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and delivered a keynote speech at the event, which was chaired by General To Lam, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Central Party Committee of Public Security and Minister of Public Security.

The event also saw the presence of various senior officials from agencies of the Party Central Committee, National Assembly and Government, as well as representatives from many ministries and authorities of provinces and municipalities.

The conference was also attended by Deputy Ministers of Public Security, representatives from Provincial/Municipal Police Departments, Academies and Schools under the Ministry.

Speaking at the event, Minister To Lam highlighted that the world and the region continued to witness complicated and rapid developments, bringing both opportunities and challenges to the country. In this context, our entire Party, people and armed forces have been determined and made great efforts, taken drastic and effective actions to overcome all difficulties and challenges.

Particularly, Vietnam has basically taken the COVID-19 pandemic under control, demonstrating the superiority and core values of the socialism in our country.

The Minister emphasized that under the guidance of the Party and State and thanks to the coordination of relevant ministries and agencies, and particularly the support from the people, the Public Security Forces have successfully implemented their tasks and achieved the set goals in the period of 2015-2020 and in 2020.

Especially, the Public Security Forces have firmly protected national security, and ensured social order and safety in the current situation, contributing to maintaining political stability, building a disciplined, peaceful safe and healthy society, promoting national socio-economic development and strengthening international relations and cooperation, for the sake of a peaceful and happy life for the people.

According to General To Lam, rapid changes in the regional and global situations required the Public Security Forces to carefully review the performance of tasks in the first half of the year and the implementation of the Resolution of the 6th Public Security Congress’ Resolution so as to precisely predict the next situational developments and take timely and appropriate measures to successfully achieve the set objectives.

Delegates were also listened to various reports, including the results of implementation of the 6th Public Security Congress’ Resolution; the results of the Public Security Forces’ task performance in the first 6 months, the forces’ missions for the remaining months of the year, on the progress of the implementation of the project on national population database, the results of the campaign to collect illegally possessed weapons, explosives and combat gears, and the results of the deployment of full-time police officers to communes.
