MPS reviews task performance of Public Security Forces in August

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a meeting on the afternoon of September 5 in Hanoi to review results of the task performances of the Public Security Forces in August and roll out its work plan for the following month.

The meeting focused on the Public Security Forces’ results of security and order protection during the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, as well as activities marking the 80th founding anniversary of the Public Security Forces and the 20th anniversary of the “All People Protecting National Security” Festival.

Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang chaired the meeting.

Presenting a general report, Chief of the MPS Office Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan highlighted that the Public Security Forces launched major campaigns against crimes, and achieved significant results in combating economic crimes, corruption, drug-related crimes and cybercrimes in August.

Reviewing activities marking the 80th founding anniversary of the Public Security Forces and the 20th anniversary of the “All People Protecting National Security” Festival, Director of the Department of Political Affairs Major General Pham Kim Dinh underlined that all public security units and agencies as well as localities had celebrated the double event in a solemn and effective manner, which had had great political significance and contributed to creating strong public resonance and giving the public a greate insight into the Public Security Forces.

Under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, delegates discussed key issues, including the outcomes of Party congresses at public security units and agencies, results of digital transformation within the Public Security Forces, as well as measures to combat harmful information in cyberspace.

In his concluding remarks, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the MPS leadership, Minister Luong Tam Quang acknowledged and commended the achievements obtained by the entire Public Security Forces in August 2025.

The Minister recognized that the forces had made utmost effort to ensure absolute security and safety of various activities nationwide celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. He also revealed, the effort and excellent performances of the Public Security Forces were highly appreciated by the Party, the State, the people and the international community.

Regarding key tasks in the coming time, Minister Luong Tam Quang requested that relevant units and agencies make careful preparations for the upcoming 8th Congress of the Public Security Central Party Committee for the 2025–2030 term, as well as for the signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention. He stressed, as the signing ceremony will gather in leaders of police and public security forces of other countries, it should be  organized at the highest safety level and in accordance with international diplomatic protocols.

The Minister emphasized, the entire Public Security Forces should stay proactive, vigilant and well-prepared to prevent any activities infringing upon national security. 

He also called for more efficient measures to control crime so as to achieve the goal of making 20% of communes, wards and special administrative regions nationwide become drug-free.

Finally, the Minister stressed the need to reduce traffic accidents and expand the application of science and technology in ensuring traffic order and safety.
