The Central Party Committee of Public Security and Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on August 7 organized a conference to deploy the Government’s Decree on the functions, tasks, authorities and organizational structure of the MPS.

At the event, delegates also reviewed the task performances of the Public Security Forces in the first 6 months of 2018 and roll out key tasks for the remaining months of 2018.

The event saw the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security.

Minister Mai Tien Dung, Chairman of the Office of the Government, announced Decree 01/ NĐ-CP, issued on August 6, 2018 by the Government, which defines the functions, tasks, authorities and organizational structure of the MPS.

Under the new organizational structure, the MPS will downgrade all 6 General Departments, and dissolve nearly 60 department-level units and 300 office-level units.

The conference also listened to reports on outcomes of the task performances of the Public Security Forces (PSF) in the first half of 2018 as well as central tasks for the rest of the year.

The reports showed that the PSF actively grasped the situation and opportunely recommended the Party and State various appropriate policies and solutions to maintain security and order, contributing to socio-economic development and diplomacy of the country.

In the first half of the year, criminal cases saw a decline of 0.17% while the rate of resolved criminal cases reached 79.5%, 9.5% higher than the target set by the National Assembly.
