Congratulating Ambassador Rajpal Singh on his new post, Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed confidence that, with his experience and professional expertise, the ambassador would achieve success in his tenure in Vietnam, contributing to further promoting and deepening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Minister Luong Tam Quang noted that, over the past 52 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore have deepened in a substantive and effective manner. The two sides have maintained regular high-level and working-level exchanges, effectively utilized bilateral cooperation mechanisms and achieved positive results of defence and security cooperation, education and training, tourism, culture and people-to-people exchanges.

The minister added that the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Singaporean law enforcement agencies has recently recorded many positive outcomes. The two countries have closely coordinated in exchanging crime information, successfully addressing various cases involving citizens of the two countries through INTERPOL channels, and always supported each other at multilateral cooperation forums on drug prevention and control within the ASEAN framework.

In addition, the two sides have regularly exchanged information on drug-related crime and coordinated in arresting criminals wanted by one country hiding in the other’s territory, while cooperation in training, fire prevention and firefighting, search and rescue and cybersecurity has also yielded positive results.

At the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang proposed that the two sides continue to enhance strategic information exchange on issues of mutual concern; strengthen regular cooperation mechanisms of exchanging information of crimes, particularly transnational organized crime, drug-related crime, economic crime and fraud; and promptly address issues involving one country’s citizens offended in the other.

He also suggested maintaining frequent exchanges of high-level and professional delegations to enhance mutual understanding and explore cooperation opportunities in areas of potential and strengths of the two sides, such as combating high-tech crime and applying science and technology in crime prevention and control.

For his part, Ambassador Rajpal Singh expressed his sincere appreciation for the support extended by the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and by Minister Luong Tam Quang to the Embassy of Singapore, pledging that he, as the new Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam, would continue to make positivie contributions to further consolidating and deepening the Vietnam–Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
