Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long affirmed that the cooperation between Vietnam and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (China) has been steadily consolidated and positively developed across various sectors, including law enforcement and crime prevention.

He also emphasized high-level leaders of the two sides agreed to further promote comprehensive and effective cooperation in line with each side’s needs and potential.

Regarding collaboration between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Hong Kong Police Force, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long highlighted that the two sides have maintained regular delegation exchanges and signed a memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on information sharing and cooperation in key areas, such as immigration management and counterterrorism, contributing to enhancing the effectiveness of transnational crime prevention and control.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to establish a direct communication channel to facilitate information exchange on crime prevention and to explore opportunity for the establishment of coordination mechanisms and the signing of specialized cooperation documents to implement the commitments made.

For his part, Commissioner Chow Yat-ming expressed his gratitude to Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long for the warm reception, reaffirming that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam is an important regional partner of the Hong Kong Police Force.

He noted that the two sides have effectively implemented the Memorandum of Understanding on Counterterrorism Cooperation and revealed that delegations from the Hong Kong Police Force had visited Vietnam to participate in professional exchanges with relevant units under the Ministry of Public Security on the prevention and combat of various types of crime.

The guest expressed his hope that, in the time ahead, both sides will continue to deepen comprehensive cooperation across all fields and actively participate in multilateral forums on police and security cooperation, contributing to safeguarding national and regional security and stability as well as global peace and order.
