Within the framework of his visit, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long had a meeting with Deputy Commissioner of the National Police Agency of Japan Yoshinobu Kusunoki to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two police agencies.

At the meeting, the two head delegates agreed that the bilateral cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the National Police Agency of Japan had witnessed numerous positive results this year, contributing to strengthening the Vietnam-Japan relationship, especially after the upgrading of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World between the two countries in November 2023.

Accordingly, the two sides maintained the organization of the Vietnam-Japan Deputy-Ministerial Security Dialogue on a rotational basis to exchange information related to emerging security challenges and the criminal situation in each country as well as propose approaches to effectively address those issues, contributing to protecting national security and social order and safety in each country.

On the basis of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Japanese National Police Agency on preventing and combating transnational crime and building capacity of law enforcement forces signed in May 2024, the two police agencies have created a firm legal framework for specific cooperation activities between functional units and agencies of the two sides in the coming time.

Regarding cooperation orientations for the coming time, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long suggested that the two sides should enhance exchange of information related to the security situation in the region and the world, as well as effectively realize the contents agreed by the two sides at the first Vietnam–Japan INTERPOL bilateral meeting in October 2024.

In addition, the guest also proposed that the two sides continue to exchange criminal information in support of verifying, tracking and arresting fugitives wanted by the police forces of the two countries while providing each other with legal assistance in criminal matters.

The Vietnamese Public Security Deputy Minister also suggested the two sides should enhance exchange of high-level and expert-level delegations to share hands-on experience in preventing and combating transnational crime and high-tech crime, conducting search and rescue operations as well as ensuring road and waterway traffic safety, while supporting each other in training and building capacity of law enforcement forces of the two countries.

Within the framework of his visit, on December 5th, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long had a meeting with the Cabinet Office of Japan to exchange initiatives and hands-on experience in developing mega-cities and the 5.0 society in Japan.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long also visited big Japanese data corporations such as the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation and the NEC Corporation.
