Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong asked all investigation units to be fully aware of  the position of defense rights in the investigation procedures so as to create favorable conditions for lawyers to exercise their rights in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code and other laws.

He also urged relevant agencies of the MPS to complete a draft circular stipulating the responsibilities of the Public Security Forces in implementing the provisions of the 2015 Criminal Procedure Code regarding the defense rights of the accused, contributing to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the victims, the involved persons, the denounced persons and persons requested to be prosecuted, and submit it to the Minister for approval.

He noted that this is an important legal basis for lawyers to exercise their rights and obligations when defending the accused during the criminal investigation process.

Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong also hoped that the VLA and MPS would promote their cooperation and regularly exchange issues of mutual concern in the time to come.
