MPS’s Department for Information and Communications rolls out working plan for 2020

The Department for Information and Communications under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on December 31 held a conference to review its task performance in 2019 and roll out its working plan for 2020.

According to the general report delivered at the conference by Lieutenant General Mai Van Ha, Director of the Department for Information and Communications, in 2019, the People’s Public Security Forces’ (PPSF) information and communications sector has been reorganized.

Accordingly, all public security media and press agencies, publishing houses and cinematography are now under the management of the Department for Information and Communications.With the new organization, the department’s subordinate units have operated more effectively.

For instance, the public security television and newspaper have nearly doubled the number of reports and articles against wrongful thoughts and sabotage activities of reactionary and hostile forces, contributing to guiding public opinion toward the truth and correct information and raising the status of the PPSF’s information and communications sector over the past year.

Further, a number of public press and media units and individuals have won high prizes at national press festivals and contests.

Speaking at the conference, on behalf of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh recognized and hailed the good results achieved by the department in 2019.

Regarding its missions in 2020, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh requested the department to strictly follow the information orientations of the Party, the State and the Ministry of Public Security, as well as to disseminate the Party's guidelines and policies, the State’s laws, the Public Security Central Party Committee’s resolutions and the MPS’s leadership on protection of national security, social order and safety in a timely and effective manner on the public security press and media. 

The department should also promote the movement “All people protect national security”, mobilize all people to support the PPSF in the revolutionary cause and consolidate the great national unity bloc.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh also requested the department to coordinate closely with public security agencies and local police units, localities and press agencies outside the PPSF to improve the quality of the press and media’s information about the PPSF’s operations and activities in safeguarding national security and ensuring social order and safety.
