NA Vice Chairman checks Ninh Khanh Prison

PSNews – Uong Chu Luu, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly leading a delegation of the National Assembly visited and inspected the criminal verdict execution and special amnesty work on April 9,  at the Ninh Khanh Prison, Ninh Binh province. 

NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu and the delegation visited and inquired after prisoners at the Ninh Khanh Prison. They also checked facilities, infirmary center, detention areas, and other parts of the prison.

After that, Senior Colonel Nguyen Dinh Giang, Correctional Supervisor of the Ninh Khanh Prison briefed the NA delegation on three core issues, namely criminal verdict execution, implementation of policies for prisoners and special amnesty work.

He also asked the National Assembly to consider and approve the Law on Special Amnesty and Criminal Verdict Execution in accordance with practices and fund State budget for standard detention facilities.

At the meeting, some delegates gave ideas and opinions regarding to the criminal verdict execution. Accordingly, Head of the Judicial Committee of the National Assembly Le Thi Nga suggested increasing probationary sanctions rather than detention. Secretary of the Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh also said that the prison should provide favourable conditions for female prisoners in daily life.

On behalf of leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son recognized delegates’ ideas and opinions, and affirmed that the Ministry of Public Security will continuously offer high-ranking leaders effective solutions with the aim of reducing criminal rate.

Addressing the meeting, NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu stated that, over the past years, the Ministry of Public Security has well implemented its tasks relating to the criminal verdict execution, contributing to maintaining political security, socio-economic development of the country. 

He also vowed to support the proposals of the Ministry of Public Security and put them on table at the National Assembly’s upcoming sessions, with the aim of continuously improving infrastructure of key prisons, including the Ninh Khanh Prison.
