Neglecting COVID prevention and control, ward-level officials suspended from work

Two top officials of Thuan Giao ward, Thuan An city, Binh Duong, namely Secretary of the Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Hoi, and Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee Ly Binh Son, were suspended from their posts.

According to a decision of the Party Committee of Thuan An City, the two men were suspended from work due to their neglect and weakness in leading and conducting pandemic prevention and control work in the locality. As a result, Directive No. 16 of the Prime Minister was not seriously implemented in the ward, leading to a rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 infections.

The replacement of the two suspended officials was announced on the same day. The new officials will also join the Steering Committee for COVID-19 prevention control of Thuan Giao ward.

A number of people in the locality went out and played sports outdoor during the social distancing period.

Earlier, the authorities of Thuan An city received various reports from residents of Thuan Giao ward informing that a number of people in the locality went out and played sports outdoor during the social distancing period.

The ward is home to many guest workers and considered a hotbed of COVID-19 with many infections reported recently.
