Sat village, Truong Son commune, is home to 34 households with 152 residents, who mainly live on agricultural activities. The floods in early November last year led to potential landslides in the locality, threatening to destroy the whole village. As a result, all residents had evacuated to the forest and lived in canvas tents.

Thanks to the supports from the community and the local authorities, new houses have been built for the local people.

Although they live in a new location with unfavorable conditions, local people villagers still try their best to cultivate crops and their children overcome all difficulties to go to school, said Nguyen Van Muon, head of the village.

Now, all of the households of the Bru Van Kieu ethnicity in Sat village are living in newly-built homes. The new village also has a 2-storey building which serves as a school and a place for people to avoid floods.

For the villagers, the new homes are the realization of their dreams, said Nguyen Van Nhi, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Truong Son commune.
