Ngoc Ly Prison receives second-class Fatherland Protection Medal

The Ngoc Ly Prison Police Unit held a ceremony to celebrate its 40th founding anniversary (November 22, 1982) and receive the second-class Fatherland Protection Order, on November 22. Deputy Minister of Public Security Major General Le Van Tuyen attended the event and presented the medal under the authority of the State President.

On November 22, 1982, the Ministry of Home Affairs (now the Ministry of Public Security) issued a decision on establishment of Dong Huu Re-education Camp with a capacity of 800-1,000 inmates. 

Over the past 40 years, the Ngoc Ly Prison Police Unit has managed and educated over 85,000 inmates with different sentences, including those who committed dangerous crimes. 

Generations of police officers and workers at prison have always tried their best to fulfill their duties, absolutely ensuring safety and security at the prison, effectively re-educating prisoners, and improving material and spiritual lives of inmates. 

As a result, Ngoc Ly Prison usually has a comparatively high number of prisoners granted amnesty and parole.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security, praised the leadership and staff of Ngoc Ly Prison for their unceasing effort to manage and re-educate inmates over the past years, and took the chance to thank the support of the Party committees, authorities at all levels and the people of Bac Giang province for Ngoc Ly Prison.

Regarding its major tasks in the coming time, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen requested corrections police unit to effectively realize resolutions of the Party, policies of the State and directions of the Ministry of Public Security on managing and re-educating inmates while further improving the management and re-education of inmates, providing more opportunities for inmates to learn professions and work.
