Party Congress of the Counter-Narcotics Police Department for 2025–2030 term officially takes place

PSNews - The Party Organization of the Counter-Narcotics Police Department solemnly held its 8th Party Congress for the 2025-2030 period on August 28, in Hanoi.

Member of the Standing Board of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long attended and delivered a keynote speech at the congress.

During the 2020–2025 term, the Party Committee of the Counter-Narcotics Police Department closely followed the directives of the Public Security Central Party Committee and successfully fulfilled its political tasks, surpassing the goals set out in the Resolution of the 7th Party Congress.

During the past term, the department took a wide range of professional measures, initiated and successfully solved thousands of drug-related criminal cases, significantly contributing to enhancing the efficiency of drug crime prevention and control. 

It also launched major campaigns to raise public awareness and to combat and suppress drug-related crimes, while mobilizing counter-narcotics forces nationwide to dismantle many hotspots of illegal trafficking, storage and use of narcotics.

In his address, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long acknowledged and highly praised the Counter-Narcotics Police Department’s Party Organization for its achievements during the past term.

For the upcoming 2025–2030 term, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long requested the Counter-Narcotics Police Department to well perform its pivotal function as the leading unit to guide, supervise and support local counter-narcotics units in the fight against drug crimes in line with the orientations of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security.

The Deputy Minister emphasized the need to assess the situation comprehensively in order to provide timely advice to the MPS leadership on drug crime prevention and control, ensure effective management and operation of rehabilitation centers, and resolutely and effectively implement the National Target Program on Drug Prevention and Control for the 2025–2030 period.

At the Congress, Party members elected the Party Committee of the Counter-Narcotics Police Department for the 2025–2030 term and elected the delegation to attend the 8th Party Congress of the Public Security Central Party Committee.
