After the Politburo released a notice on Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s health and Politburo member and State President To Lam’s taking charge of the work of the Party Central Committee, Politburo and Secretariat, Party members and people across the country have affirmed their absolute confidence in the Party leadership and State management.

On July 18, the Politburo issued a notice stating that due to the need to continue prioritising intensive health care for the General Secretary while ensuring the overall management of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and Secretariat, on the basis of the working regulations of the 13th Party Central Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat, for the immediate future, the Politburo assigns To Lam, Politburo member and State President, to take charge of the work of the Party Central Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat with responsibilities and power as provided by the Politburo.

Veteran Party member, Colonel Tran Duc San from Nghia Do ward, Hanoi’s Cau Giay district said that the Politburo's assignment of Politburo member and President Lam to be in charge of the work of the Party Central Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat with responsibilities and power as provided by the Politburo is appropriate and in accordance with regulations. This not only ensures the overall management of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat, but also lets Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to focus on his health.

“This is a normal coordination to ensure the general operation of the country. This continuity will make the entire people and army feel secure and have absolute confidence in the leadership of the Party and the State," San said.

Bui Cong Bien, Secretary of the Party cell of the residential group No. 7, Xuan La ward, Tay Ho district in Hanoi expressed his hope that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will quickly recover. He said he agrees with the Politburo's assignment of President Lam to preside over the work of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat.

Bien affirmed his absolute trust in the Party's leadership and the State's management in strengthening unity, and working together to continue building on important and comprehensive results and achievements that the country has attained. "Recently, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has been both managing work and undergoing treatment and health care process. Illness is something everyone may encounter in life, so this assignment is reasonable so that the Party leader can focus on his health with peace of mind,” Bien said.

Moreover, this assignment is carried out in accordance with the regulations and working rules of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat in the 13th tenure, so the people can be completely assured, he added.

Le Vu, Secretary of the Party cell of the Science and Examination sections under the University of Da Nang - University of Technology and Education, expressed concern over the news of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong simultaneously managing work responsibilities while undergoing medical treatment. Vu expressed hope for the leader's swift recovery and reiterated his trust in the Party's leadership and the State’s management. He emphasised the importance of strengthening collective unity, promoting gained achievements, overcoming challenges, and mobilising officials and Party members to uphold steadfast political ideology and join hands in the nation building and safeguarding.

Meanwhile, Director of the Trung Phong Technique Joint Stock Company Tran Thi Duyen in Da Nang city expressed her hope that the Party chief will get well soon.

Under the leadership of the Party and the management of the State, Vietnam has unceasingly developed and affirmed its position in the international arena, she said, highlighting the people always support the policies of the Party and State, and take pride in the nation’s glorious history.

She added that she and her staff are completely confident in the Party and State leadership, and will continue joining efforts to develop the economy in the hope that the nation’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity will be firmly safeguarded, social order and safety ensured, and the people's spiritual and material lives well taken care of.
