PSNews - On November 1st, at about 8.30am, a historical flood submerged nearly 2,000 households of 4 communes of Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province within only 15 minutes.

Senior Colonel Tran Duc Viet, Director of Quang Tri Provincial Police instructed the police forces of Quang Tri province, Cam Lo district and other localities's police forces to immediately rescue local people.

The police forces of Quang Tri province went and rescued people in the hardest-hit areas including Ba Thung, Bac Binh, An My of Cam Tuyen commune; Bich Giang of Cam Hieu commune; Tam Hiep, Lam Lang of Cam Thuy commune as well as other towns as Dong Dinh, Thuong Nguyen, Trung Vien, Hau Vien, Tay Hoa of Cam Lo. 

During the rescue operations, police forces used canoes, boats, life jackets to take hundreds of people stuck on the roof of houses and on the top of trees to safe areas.

Joining rescue forces in the flood-hit areas, Chairman of the Cam Lo District People's Committee Ngo Quang Chien showed his admiration for brave actions to save people of Quang Tri police forces. He also asked local forces to minimize losses to local people while executing rescue operations. 

"This was a historical flood in terms of intensity and speed. The huge flood came suddenly while we were discussing the flood prevention plans", Chien said.

On October 30-13, the rainfall in Cam Lo district reached 420 - 480mm.
