People provide 612,000 pieces of information about crimes and offenses to police

PSnews –A conference, aiming to review 10 years implementing the “All People Protecting National Security” movement, was held in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) on December 26.

According to Senior Colonel Dinh Thanh Nhan, Deputy Chief of the HCMC Municipal Police, after 10 years implementing the “All People Protecting National Security”, the city now has 64 good operational models of the movement with various contents and forms.

Many of the typical models of the “All People Protecting National Security” movement remain operational, such as the  "self-managed hostel” model with the participation of 13,356 hostels’ owners; the “self-managed motorbike” model with 699 groups with 7,625 members; the “self-managed guard force” model with 553 members.

Through building and replicating the outstanding models as well as the work of mass mobilization to heighten people's awareness of the “All People Protecting National Security” movement, HCMC citizens in the past 10 years have provided 612,000 valuable pieces of information to the police force, contributing to handling 64,700 cases and arresting 100,201 suspects.

The citizens have also joined hands with the police force in resolving many of complex “black spots” relating to social order, contributing significantly to reducing the number of criminal cases.

Reports at the conference also showed that local people also directly arrested 28,640 suspects and handed over many firearms and homemade weapons to the police. The people also advised 2,724 suspects to give up themselves to the police.
