The PPA was established on May 15, 1968, on the basis of a police branch of the Central Public Security School. In 1975, the Government allowed the school to open the first university-level training course (Course D1) with the enrollment of 296 excellent young policemen and high school graduates across the country.

Over 45 years of development, the PPA has organized 113 full-time university-level training courses for over 30,000 students in total and hundreds of part-time university-level courses for police officers at under-ministerial agencies and local police units.

On this occasion, many teams and individuals of the PPA were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Minister of Public Security, the Minister of National Defense and the Minister of Education and Training for their outstanding achievements in education and training.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh, an alumnus of Course D1, expressed his gratitude to generations of teachers of the PPA who have overcome all difficulties to train thousands of excellent police officers, including those who then became leaders of the Party, State and the Ministry of Public Security, heroes of the People's Armed Forces.

Regarding the building of the police forces in the current context of globalization, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh requested the PPA to improve the quality of its teaching staff by organizing field trips to various police units at home and abroad while strengthening the relations with international partners to exchange working experience and professional expertise, contributing to improving the fight against crimes.
