PM praises MPS for achievements in the fight against drugs

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a ceremony on November 24 to receive the Letter of Commendation from the Prime Minister, and honor police units with outstanding achievements in preventing and fighting drug-related crimes.

The event saw the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Head of the Government's Steering Committee for Crime Prevention and Control, Chairman of the National Committee for AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution Prevention and Control. Under the authority of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang presented the Letter of Commendation to the MPS leadership at the event.

Deputy Minister of Public Security, Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc chaired the event. 

Making remarks, Deputy PM Tran Luu Quang praised the Public Security Forces for their feats in the fight against illicit drugs, saying that their achievments had contributed to maintaining security and order as well as a peaceful and happy life for the people, worthy of the title “Hero of the People's Armed Forces”.

He also showed empathy for the hardships, difficulties and dangers that the police force faces while doing their tasks.

The Deputy PM emphasized that the Party, State and Government always believe that the Public Security Forces in general, the counter-narcotics police force in particular will continue to promote their tradition and strive to control drug crimes, contributing to protecting a peaceful and stable environment for national development.

In his speech, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc stated that the counter-narcotics police force had cleared a number of large drug-dealing cases in 2023. 

But he still warned that criminals employ quite different and complex methods of producing and trafficking  illicit . They seek advanced technologies to produce various new kinds of drugs, and use cyberspace to trade illicit drugs, which requires counter-narcotics police officers to continuously improve their knowledge, professional expertise and skills. In fact, with the counter-narcotics police force has successfully investigated a number of illicit drug dealing cases in cyberspace.
