Police Department of Environmental Crimes holds Party Congress for 2020-2025 term

The Police Department of Environmental Crimes (Environmental Police Department – EPD) held its 4th Party Congress for the 2020 – 2025 term on July 31.

The event saw the presence of Major General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security.

In the last term, the EPD’s Party organization directed the department to handled 876 cases and fined 468 cases of environmental crimes.

They also guided the environmental police force to strengthen the fight against crimes and violations against environment protection regulations.

Particularly, the force successfully investigated 94,635 cases, prosecuted or proposed the competent authorities to prosecute 1,646 cases with 2,556 involved suspects.

Additionally, the Party organization led the EPD to expand cooperation and information exchange with other countries and international organizations while participating effectively in operations against transnational environmental crimes.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Ngoc asked the EPD’s Party organization to guide the environmental police force to identify possible environmental offenders and their tricks and methods of committing environmental crimes and violating regulations on environment protection, natural resources exploitation and food safety. It should also lead the force to seriously implement plans and intensive campaigns against environmental protection violations.

The Deputy Minister also requested the Party organization to promote Party and force building work and surmount the shortcomings in performing their assigned tasks.
