Police force asked to ensure security during big anniversaries and national events

PSNews-The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a meeting to review the results of police work in April and map out new orientations for May.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Danh Cong, Head of the MPS's Office, briefly presented the report on the situation and results of police work in April 2017. 

During the month, the police force seriously implemented instructions and directions by the Party, the National Assembly, the Government and the Central Party Committee of Public Security, the Working Plans of the Ministry of Public Security. 

The police force well performed its function as a key security and social order advisor to the Party, State, Government and MPS, while playing its key role in coordination with the ministries, branches and localities in effectively detecting, preventing and fighting conspiracies and activities of hostile and reactionary forces, and safely protecting key targets and projects related to national security and important political, cultural and social events of the country. 

Additionally, the police force strived to seriously implement the ministry's directions on enhancing and ensuring security and order during the anniversaries of April 30 and May 1 as well as to deploy security plans for the 2017 APEC’s Second Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOMII) in Hanoi.

Police units and local police force have made great efforts to launch attacks on criminal activities; strictly manage the situations in local situations and subjects, raise the quality and effectiveness of dealing with people-provided information and reports on crimes, speed up the investigation and solution of serious and complicated cases, and coordinate with relevant forces to take social prevention measures.

In April alone, the forces investigated and discovered 3,446 criminal cases, arrested and handled 7,194 suspects; cracked down on 123 criminal gangs; tackle 612 gambling cases and arrested 2,930 suspects.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam praised efforts and excellent achievements of officers and soldiers of the police force. Minister To Lam noted that there are big anniversaries and major political events of the country in May, and hostile and reactionary forces as well as criminals often take this chance to expand their activities.

The Minister asked the police forces to continue to closely follow the policies of the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly and the Government; seriously implement mandates and directions from the ministry's leaders in terms of security and order. 

He also asked the forces to be proactive in grasping situations of the country and localities, and focus on ensuring security and order on the occasion of the upcoming anniversaries of April 30 and May 1; the 127th Birthday of President Ho Chi Minh as well as the 2017 APEC’s Second Senior Officials Meeting (SOM II) to be held in Hanoi.
