Police force help local people overcome flood consequences in Northwestern provinces

Heavy downpours during the night of August 2 and early morning of August 3 caused flashfloods, which left dozens missing and caused serious damages to the Northwestern provinces' people. Against this backdrop, hundreds of police officers have been mobilized to help local people overcome flood consequences.

Widespread heavy rains have been reported across mountainous and midland provinces in northern Vietnam. Flash floods and landslides in some areas caused heavy human and property losses, especially in Muong La district of Son La province and Mu Cang Chai district of Yen Bai province.

Heavy downpours during the night of August 2 and early morning of August 3 caused flashfloods, which sweeping away 14 houses and 11 locals, according to Deputy Chairman of the Mu Cang Chai District People’s Committee Le Trong Khang. The floods have also caused serious damages to public facilities and schools.

In Dien Bien province's Muong Nhe district, 17 people's motorbikes were swept away, however, the police force in collaboration with functional units found 16 motorcycles for the local people.

In Son La province, The Provincial Police also mobilized more than 400 officers and means to flooded areas to maintain security and to conduct search and rescue, urgently helping people transport their family and belongings to safe areas.
