Police force reviews traffic order and safety during second U.S – DPRK Summit

PSNews - The Traffic Police Department organized a conference on March 7 in Bac Ninh to review the work of ensuring traffic order and safety for the second U.S. – DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) Summit.

The conference saw the presence of Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Mr. Nguyen Tu Quynh, Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People’s Committee. Lieutenant General Vu Do Anh Dung, Director of Traffic Police Department chaired the event.

Reports at the conference highlighted the importance of the summit, which required absolute safety and security for the participating delegations on the road, at their lodging places and at the venues of the summit. Additionally, the protection of the traveling route of the DPRK’s delegation from Dong Dang to Hanoi when they came for the summit, as well as the route from Hanoi to Dong Dang when they concluded the official visit to Vietnam also posed big challenges to the forces in charge of traffic safety and order.

Before the arrival of the DPRK’s delegation, the Traffic Police Department had coordinated with the Traffic Police of Hanoi, BacNinh, BacGiang, Lang Son and other relevant police units to patrol and conduct careful security and safety surveys on the Dong Dang-Hanoi route and related areas, particularly National Highway 1A’s Bac Giang - Lang Son section as well as streets and roads in Hanoi. The police force implemented various plans to regulate traffic flows on the route denying any traffic congestion and accidents which might negatively affect the convoy of the delegation.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son praised the contributions of the Public Security Forces in general and the Traffic Police Force in particular to Vietnam’s successful organization of the U.S - DPRK Summit.

Particular, the traffic police force upheld their high sense of responsibility to overcome difficulties and successfully complete the assigned tasks, contributing to building a beautiful and friendly image of Vietnam’s traffic force in international friends’ hearts. Meanwhile, the general achievements of the Public Security Forces helped to promote the role and position of Vietnam in the international arena.

Deputy Minister Son asked the traffic police force to further coordinate with police units in localities to ensure traffic order and safety for major events and festivals. He also highlighted the importance to call for participation of relevant forces, agencies, and the people in ensuring traffic safety.
