Police forces deploy all efforts to crack down on crimes

PSNews-The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a teleconference between the MPS and local police departments and units to review results of maintaining security and order during the Tet as well as to discuss action plans for February.

Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security chaired the meeting.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Danh Cong, Director of the MPS Office, briefed participants of the conference on the situation of security and order during the Lunar New Year holiday.

The report said, local police departments and units have actively realized concrete plans, focusing on grasping situations, effectively solving complex issues at the grassroots level, strengthening the fight against crime and ensuring security and social order during the Tet.

As reported by the police units and local departments, in the 7 New Year holidays, criminal offenses reduced in terms of both number of cases and seriousness of cases, compared to the same period in 2016; the activities of criminal gangs were kept under control; police units managed to prevent cases with the use of weapons or explosives.

Local police departments and units have investigated 191 criminal cases, arrested 239 suspects, including 78 wanted fugitives; cracked down on 256 gambling cases and arrested 1,334 objects and seized VND 2.5 billion. Meanwhile, the traffic police managed to handle 14,631 cases of infringing traffic regulations.

Minister To Lam praised and recognized the efforts by the police force in ensuring security and safety before, during and after the Tet.

The Minister also urged officials and soldiers of the police forces to continue to strictly implement the work orders, encouraged officers and soldiers to uphold the sense of responsibility, overcome difficulties and successfully fulfill the assigned tasks. He also recommended to praise teams and individuals with outstanding achievements in the protection of security and order before, during and after Tet.
